John S. Troy, Principal Landscape Architect, FASLA

entry1Education and Experience

John received his B.A. in Biology with a minor in Fine Arts from Case Western Reserve University, and a Masters of Landscape Architecture from the University of Michigan. During graduate school he held summer internships in Kalamazoo, MI and Jacksonville, FL. After graduating, he worked for 2 years in Phoenix, AZ before accepting a teaching position as an associate professor at West Virginia University. During his 6 years at WVU, he enjoyed teaching history of landscape architecture, introductory design and site grading construction. In 1980 he received an Outstanding Educator award for his excellence in teaching from the Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture.

In 1981, John moved to San Antonio, Texas where he has been practicing residential landscape architecture in the region, as well as Mexico and England. He has focused on classic design with sustainable principles, receiving recognition with many design and community service awards. John also enjoys tending a bonsai collection.
